Larry Wright founded Abundant Life in 1978 after being encouraged to teach the Bible full time by different business men in the Phoenix area.  He was married to Sue for 46 years after meeting in college on a blind date and marrying three months later.  They are the proud parents of three married daughters and nine grandchildren.  Larry went home to be with his Lord on October 7, 2001.  See Larry’s Life for more details.Their ministry continues to be one of outreach directed primarily to the un-churched.  Sue does a considerable amount of counseling and leads a women's Bible study which emphasizes the role of the wife in the home. These activities have been and still are centered in their home area of Phoenix, Arizona where they have lived since they were married.

Larry was in radio broadcasting for 26 years and became Arizona's leading disc jockey in the 1960's under the name "Lucky Lawrence".

Their marriage endured it all - richer, poorer, sickness (Larry has rheumatoid arthritis and has had cancer of the lymph nodes) and health, better (the last 25 years) and worse. In the early years of their marriage Larry was an alcoholic and their marriage was on the brink of divorce. They have also lived through teenagers and therefore were and are able to relate to marriage and family in a way that few can.

They had personally experienced the amazing grace of God in their lives individually and as a couple. They love the Lord Jesus Christ and knew His reality in every area of living and were deeply committed to each other and it seemed always together 'till death parted them.

Sue continues to have a deep desire to be used of God to share how God’s plan for people’s lives and marriages works.  Even the worst of circumstances can be totally transformed by following His powerful Word.

Larry's Story

Suzanne's Story

Skip and Laurie Ast are both natives of the Phoenix area and met at a community college in Glendale, Arizona where they grew up. They were engaged three months after their first date and married six months later. They have been married for over 23 years and are the proud parents of three sons.

Immediately after they were engaged Skip accepted a football scholarship to the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma where he attended one semester before coming back to Phoenix to marry Laurie in the summer of 1980.

They both returned to Tulsa that Fall where Skip worked towards a degree in Business Administration while playing football. His senior year he led the football team as quarterback to a 10-1 record, the conference championship and a top 20 national ranking. During this time, Laurie worked in an advertising agency and trained horses until their first son was born in Skip's senior year.

After graduating they moved back to the Phoenix area where Skip spent 15 years in the swimming pool and home building construction business. Skip has also helped coach his sons in football at the local High School they attend. Laurie is a homemaker and enjoys training horses as a hobby. She also loves music and is often asked to sing at weddings and other events.  Together they also do marriage enrichment seminars/retreats, and speak at outreach events. Laurie helps lead a women's Bible study which emphasizes the role of the wife in the home and Skip teaches Bible in the business community.  Both have been involved in Abundant Life full time since May of 1998.  Skip has been the director of the ministry since the founder, Larry Wright, went home to be with his Lord on October 7, 2001.

As children both Skip and Laurie watched God transform their parent’s lives and marriages that were ravaged by alcohol and on the verge of divorce. Witnessing this transformation led them both to also come into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ at a young age. They love the Lord Jesus and are committed to each other 'till death parts them. They have a deep desire to enhance people's lives and marriages through the practical teaching of God's timeless Word.
